Ben Wade Loses Coaching Duties
February 19, 2009
Southwest Baptist University is not renewing the contract with Survivor contestant Ben “Coach” Wade. He will no longer coach the women’s soccer team. And by reading the Missourinet Sports and Springfield News Leader’s articles about it, I’m pretty sure it’s because his ego no longer fits in the building there. Turns out he doesn’t seem to be remorseful about the role he may have played in losing his contract…like uh not telling the school or his team where he was going or for how long. One might speculate by the article that he has done well with the game of Survivor, but as usual he’s not allowed to say. I hope Thursday’s episode will shed more light on this guy, so we can see if he really is full of himself or if he’s just full of…something else.
Can Coach Benjamin Wade Survive?
February 13, 2009
This dude will definitely get noticed on season 18 of CBS’ Survivor Tocantins. He’s the women’s soccer coach at Bolivar’s Southwest Baptist University. But this hunk with hair is more than a super athlete. He’s also a musician. That’s quite a combo when you’re one of only a few men. Plus the 37-year-old is single…hmm, usually a good thing on this reality show. Let’s see if our Missouri man can bring home a million and a maiden. The show started an hour and a half ago. I think I’ll go watch it now. And hopefully he didn’t get kicked off already. I’ll let ya know.
India and Von on American Idol
February 5, 2009
Hollywood week on American Idol is only half over, but at this point the Show Me State still has two contenders in the running. India Morrison showed her stuff on Wednesday night’s group performance episode. This 22-year-old Kansas City native rapped her way into my heart and those of her three male group mates I would imagine. Plus, she’s cute as a button.
Our other hopeful is Von Smith of Greenwood. This guy had a mini-meltdown on Tuesday night’s episode but only because he wants this sooo bad. If you recall, his is the performance Simon called “indulgent rubbish” I believe, then went on to compare him to a 10 year old. But the judges still love him, and this home state does too. I just hope he can get a little more self confidence going and not over think himself into breakdownville.
And so the torture will continue for these two next week. The competition will be broken down to 36 contestants. Then we get to watch as the judges bring them into a room one by one and tell them their fate. It sure would be nice to see these guys on the live performance stage. They’ve both got great potential.
Kansas City Girl on Real World
December 9, 2008
It’s season 21 of MTV’s The Real World and yet another Missourian gets to be on it. This time it’s former Miss Teen Missouri and Miss America Teen Devyn Simone Sims. Cast previews would lead you to believe she’s a prissy prude with an attitude. (I’m a poet, did ya know it?) But we’ll see. She’s pretty, that’s for sure. And even though I haven’t watched an episode of the show in years, I remember the prissy prudes who entered the Real World house tended not to leave it that way. We’ll see.
Randy, King or Too Cocky?
November 6, 2008
To see CBS’s promos for tonight’s episode of Survivor: Gabon, it looks like our wedding videographer has got the game wrapped up. But a lesson in history tells me his mouth may soon get him in trouble. He has no qualms about saying he hates people or making rude gestures to fellow players…Crystal. And still, the tribe he got switched over to has taken him in like a favorite uncle. They even have plans to betray bow-tied Bob for Randy. I think this will definitely be an interesting episode. Probably a make-or-break one for Randy.
Now This is a David Cook Song
November 4, 2008
“American Idol” winner David Cook’s first release from his upcoming album is on his MySpace page…and it’s good. Every time I hear “Time of My Life” I kind of want to puke a little because it just doesn’t have that rocker edge that you just know David Cook wants to put out. It’s way too TV contesty…something the producers had written in his contract that he had to release, I would guess. So to hear his new single “Light On” makes me a very happy girl. He’s so talented. And you can just tell he likes singing it better, even though it’s not a live version or anything. It’s more like a comfortable feeling you get when you hear someone in their comfort zone. Don’t get me wrong, he sang the other song well. It’s just not him. The self titled album drops (that’s the right lingo, right?) on November 18.
Ryan Howard Hits it Big…Especially in Game 4
October 30, 2008
St. Louis is a proud home city once again to a reality star. This time in th world of sports. Ryan Howard was a major player in bringing the Philadelphia Phillies a World Series Championship. This guy, who played for Springfield’s Missouri State University in college, took game four by storm with two homeruns and four RBI’s. Howard can now surely look forward to being a sought after first round pick in many a Fantasy Baseball League next season.
Trista Sutter and Diaper Bags
October 16, 2008
I would guess that if anyone had asked Trista Sutter five years ago what she might like to design, diaper bags would probably not have been the answer. Becoming ABC’s first Bachellorette may change you, but becoming a mommy changes you more. Not that I know Trista, she may have wanted to design diaper bags her whole life. Anyway, that’s one of her projects now. And they’re really cute! Trista’s son, Max’s stuff is carried around in style.
Jake Simpson Coming to Eldon, Osage Beach and Springfield
October 15, 2008
Locals have known Jake for years, but for others, it’s the excitement of getting to see a two season Star Search winner and Oprah favorite moment that brings them to his shows. Either way, it’s a great experience. This guy’s charisma is intoxicating. Check out his MySpace page for upcoming performance dates.
